Christine Laquet Embarks on Schmidt Ocean Institute Expedition
Buenos Aires, Argentina — On September 30, Christine Laquet will join the crew of the Falkor (too), the Schmidt Ocean Institute’s research vessel, that will be docked in Buenos Aires. Selected by the Institute’s Artist-at-Sea program, she is the only artist on board the month-long expedition “A Tale of Two Submarine Canyons” , led by Dr. Silvia Romero.
With more than 70 scientists and crew members, the mission will map and study two submarine canyons off the coast of Patagonia to better understand how their geomorphology shapes ocean circulation. Laquet will engage with this unique scientific and human journey, integrating it into her ongoing artistic practice.
